Ad essere sincero, Singapore (la città delle multe/“the fine city”) non è che mi piaccia poi molto ma, visto che viaggio parecchio e che l’Aeroporto Internazionale Changi è uno dei principali del sud-est asiatico, ho approfittato più volte degli stopover per visitare il piccolo città-stato. Oltre al cibo lo stato-isola ha un altro paio di cose che possono rendere piacevole uno stopover: lo shopping e i club!

Su 17 Jiak Kim Street la tradizione ventennale (aperto nel marzo 1991) dello Zouk lo rende un nome leggendario fra le discoteche, con una reputazione che va oltre i confini di Singapore. Allestito in un vecchio magazzino non lontano dal Singapore River, lo Zouk è uno dei locali più vecchi e tuttora popolare fra i giovani trendy offendo 3 diverse zone per soddisfare gli appassionati di tutti i generi di musica dance. Se possibile, fate amicizia con qualcuno di Singapore per poter entrare nel Member’s Bar al secondo piano (possono accedere solo i possessori della carta per membri). Se non riuscissi ad entrare al Member’s Bar, poco male perché potrete comunque divertirti  con DJ di fama mondiale. Attenzione ai buttafuori non sempre amichevoli e non farti spaventare dalla fila al bar: la serata dura fino a tarda notte nel fine settimana e i cocktail sono considerati i migliori in città.

Zirca ( nei pressi di The Cannery, Clarke Quay) è il nuovo super-club di Singapore – anche se in realtà è il vecchio Ministero del Suono recentemente rinnovato. Gli interni sono elegantemente progettati e aggiunge a quanto solitamente offre una serata in discoteca stravaganti elementi originari del cabaret e dell’arte circense. Aperto fino a tardi, divertimento assicurato – potete sempre dormire in aereo.

Nella stessa zona il ben noto Crazy Elephant soprattuto per il dopolavoro, con un servizio eccellente e atmosfera davvero accogliente. Musica blues e rock suonata da gruppi di persone del posto sono il tocco che rende particolare questo club.

St James Power Station (3 Gateway Sentosa) è un enorme complesso d’intrattenimento realizzato all’interno di una vecchia centrale elettrica a carbone, dove ci sono bar e musica dal vivo per tutti i gusti. Se il divertimento è quello che state cercando la scelta migliore è Power House – un ampio spazio con un soffitto alto 5 piani, suono imponente e giochi di luce eccezionali. Se volete scatenarvi e divertirvi senza preoccuparvi di cosa pensi la gente, questo è il posto giusto per farlo a Singapore.

Possiamo concludere il nostro giro per i club di Singapore con Attica. Questo eccellente club è diventato rapidamente la destinazione preferita da chi ama i party, noto in tutto il sud-est asiatico. Attica offre una bella vista del Singapore River e un magnifico skyline della “Città-Leone”. Se questo non fosse sufficiente, il ristorante del club e il menù dei drink è eccellente e non secondo a nessuno.

To be honest, I don’t like Singapore (the fine city), but I travel a lot and Changi International Airport is one of the most important airports in south-east Asia. For this reason, I’ve taken advantage of stopovers and I’ve visited the city-state several times. Food apart, the island-nation has two more things that can make stopovers enjoyable: shopping and clubs!

The 20 years long tradition (launched in March 1991) of Zouk, makes this club a legendary among dance clubs with a reputation that stretches well beyond the borders of Singapore. Located at 17 Jiak Kim Street, in an old warehouse, it is popular with the trendy young people. With three different areas for dancing, all dance-music lovers should be pleased… If possible, try and make friends with a local and get into the Member’s Bar on the second level (only membership card older can access). Anyway, if you can’t enter the Member’s Bar you’ll have fun with important DJs. Stay away from not always friendly bouncers and don’t be scared by long queues at the bar: the party goes late on the weekend and cocktails are considered the best in town.

Zirca (in The Cannery, Clarke Quay area) is the new Singapore super-club –it’s actually the old Ministry of Sound recently restyled. The interior is designed refined and stylish manner and, to the usual dance club action, adds extravagant elements from cabaret and circus. Open until late, fun ensured – you can always sleep on the plane.

In the same area, the well known Crazy Elephant, especially for after working day, with excellent service and really nice atmosphere. Blues and rock played by resident bands is something different about this club.

 St James Power Station is a mix of clubs built in an old coal power station where there are live music shows and bars for everybody’s desire. If fun is what you’re looking for, the best choice is Power House – a space with an impressive sound system and excellent lighting effect. If you want to party like crazy and free yourself, this is the right place to do it in Singapore.

We can end our clubbing with Attica. This outstanding bar has become the greatest clubbing destination well-known in all south-east Asia. Attica offers beautiful views of the Singapore River and the magnificent skyline of the lion city. If this is not enough, the club’s foods and drinks menu is excellent and second to none.
